I was intrigued by reviews calling this on not-really-a-Batman movie. Well it is a 100-percent Batman movie with some detective work. There's nothing new to see here. Hits a lot of the beats the Nolan ones did. The introduction of the Batmobile and especially the (spoiler) Joker (/spoiler) entrance is identical to Batman Returns. All of it just reinforced that this was just another Batman. All acting is fine. Catwoman seems like a tired character now -- even though her bit was probably the best in the film -- at least her fights were fun. But haven't we seen this done just as good in other batmans? Alfred doesn't give us anything different (father-figure, Batman's protector). I excepted that a guy who is so good at solving puzzles would immediately flag that mail bomb. Amazing makeup effects for the Penguin. Gotham is covered in ugly scaffolding just like NYC. If you want to make a street ugly, throw in some scaffolding. Riddler wearing a costume that looks like he bought it at the same store Catwoman and Batman shop at. Like all comic-book movies it is filled (again...) with lots of easter eggs -- the batphone and Shakespeare bust being the best. Not seeing how Ben Afflick couldn't have done this. Film looks great and so de-saturated it not far away from black-and-white. Not really a film noir but it does have some shadowy shots and monotone voice overs. Batman and Catwoman's motorcycles are cool. And you would have to be nuts to ride one in NYC. And a city-wide flood would cause all the roads to be clear for a nice ride?

no offense to fans of the movie but this one didn't move me.
