Much like the end of the classic "The Bad Seed" I was expecting some kind of Deus Ex Machina (act of God) to wipe out the two protagonists\antagonists; but no. They head off to new adventures (probably a sequel os in the works).

Yep. Hollywood is sequel crazy now. Anything might happen.
