As I watched this film it seemed like a lot of "Monday morning quarterbacking" about this author's life. Not only that, but it seemed to condemn it in its entirety. I understand that the premise of the movie is that the author was doing the same thing, but such work is quite intimate and would seem better simply observed that served up. And in the end, even if the author had not written this book (a supposition the film seems to pray would have happened), wouldn't the information have been compiled in some way at some time? It seems as though it's an attempt at revisionist history gone amok, and lays the blame for much of recent humanities sins at one man's feet...indeed a shameful act.
