First Japanese scene subtitled?

Sato's first scene where he walks in to the restaurant was mostly in Japanese, but the version I watched didn't have subtitles for that scene, nor was I able to find any. Was that intended?

No subtitles in the version I saw either (Apple TV)... I think it works well and adds mystery to the scene... I'm assuming it was intended...
