I remember seeing this a long time ago. HBO or Cinemax showed it for a long time on demand. I was pretty sad when I found out that the bad guy 'Saito' had terminal cancer while shooting and was warned that if he does the film he would speed up the process. Anyway, awesome old school crime film. You should give it a chance.

I feel like this is an old early 90s gem that not to many people know about. I just re watched it a few months ago and I was surprised how well it holds up. Not really surprised since Ridley Scott directed it. Also the sound track is pretty damn good.

I'm a fan of this movie. I saw it in the theater. Very underrated. I still have the theatrical one-sheet poster in my collection.
I was saddened to learn the actor who played Masahiro, Ken Takakura passed away a faw years ago. Anyways, I also highly recommend this movie.

Yes, this movie is worth rewatching... Good recommendation
So many magnificent shots (better looking than most movies today)... Some fun dialogue... Classic cop/crime movie mood throughout (apart from the weak action movie third act)... Great acting by Ken Takakura, elevates the film, but thankfully not by too much ;) ...
So much fun

The actor who played Sato, Yûsaku Matsuda had bladder cancer at the time of filming. He was told his condition would be aggravated by acting in the movie but he elected to do so anyway, without telling Ridley Scott. He said "This way, I will live forever." He died less than seven weeks after the film's American premiere. The film is dedicated to his memory.
Dude knew he was going to die so he gave it his all. And it worked I still remember him and will till the day I check out. Being an actor, the closes we will get to immortality.

I saw it ages ago, when it was stil fairly new, and liked it. Perhaps I should watch it again, I remember little to nothing. :)

He was great... You feel the constant tension that his character is's going to burst out in violence even when he's just talking quietly or liatening silently...
