Its just an all female reincarnation of the original...why? Because Hollywood didnt learn their lessons from the all female Ghostbusters remake...cause that worked out great.

Actually, that's fine with me, as I had grown tired of Hollywood doing sequel after sequel after the Ocean's Eleven remake... Ocean's Twelve... Ocean's Thirteen... enough was enough, and an Ocean's Fourteen would've been too much.
It seems to be meant to set up a trilogy, hence Ocean's 8 (supposedly to allow for 9 & 10 afterwards), so they're counting on it working and will probably leave plotlines and such open for this...
I'll reserve judgement until I've seen the movie, but having seen the teaser/trailer in cinema, I can't say it seems encouraging... The original Sinatra version was fun, as was the remake... They had both the comraderie of a night out with friends as well as a sense of danger... The remakes had the bonus of Soderberg's directing and visuals... This one seems like a much more conventional film, 'cute' and a little bland... BUT I never judge a movie by it's trailer...
I don't plan on seeing it, but I might end up going with friends who want to see it...

Yep. exactly. PUSSY POWER!
SO, because one all female remake failed- then Hollywood should never do another all female remake ?

Hello Movie_nazi.
No, I think most remakes are garbage BUT if you insist on remaking it you gotta put a little more effort into the film besides making the cast female. I can hear the shop talk now:
Hey guys, guys!I gotta an idea! It'll be FABULOUS! How 'bout we do Ocean's 11, but with... (drum roll) are ya ready for this? But withFEMALES! OMG! What a WONDERFUL idea!
No soup for OddRob! To appease the false narrative? Don't they want ALL movies to falsely show woman in charge? Personally I thought movies were correctly slanted. No need to remake McArthur female or an all female wwII commando squad. Navy seals...go do the work (or crime or evil), then get the credit? W/O a casting coach that EVERYONE knew about! REALITY! Who must register for draft? You've come a long way baby! Isn't bruce gender female of the year anyway? And thanks Renovatio I wondered why the fem number was smaller! So it is a pre-spinoff?
I realize this thread was started a couple months before the movie came out. To answer the OP's question, this would more accurately be described as a spin-off of the Clooney Ocean's movies. It is not a gender-swapped remake of Ocean's Eleven. It focuses on a related character, it's set in the same fictional universe, and two of the actors from the Clooney series reprise their roles as old family friends of Debbie Ocean, Danny's sister. The characters even justify among themselves why they are specifically recruiting a team of all women for this particular heist, turning away possibly better-skilled men in the process.
They didn't spell out in the first trailer that Sandra Bullock was playing George Clooney's sister, but the 2:14 mark shows her at a mausoleum looking at Danny Ocean's name engraved on the wall with the years of his life being 1963 - 2018.
Think it has more to do with progressive nonsense of the day. After the COMPLETE meltdown of harveyweird. Can they make up for the way every one knew was the path to stardom and voluntarily opted for? We do NOT need every frigging movie to be progressively slanted. Was searching for an older mov called mercenaries and guess what popped up first in results? Oh ya that is believable! Every other movie today is so progressive nonsense based. Wonder if they snuck lgbt in this one? Bullock girl girl kiss? Or maybe that ever elusive 3rd or 4th gender? Most we can do is vote with our pocketbooks, those who support this progressive nonsense are always the first to show just how understanding they really are. I think the content of some of this should be more offensive than someone predicting its box office failure! Just silly movies guys...MELLOW!

Aparently this 'Ocean' is the sister...
