Discuss Fahrenheit 451

It's been ages since I saw the previous Fahrenheit movie so I don't remember if it had the same issue, but what was the deal with Shannon's character continuously quoting different books and writing excerpts from them? Why was he so hellbent on burning everything if he actually enjoyed reading and quoting them? What was also going on with the quote he said towards the end that went something like "I would rather walk with my brother in the dark than alone in the light"? It kind of makes you think he is going to side with Jordan B Wallace's character since he was the closest to him of the firemen, but obviously that does not happen.

Having just watched this, all the things you mention, including that line he says, definitely felt like he was going to side with Montag.

There's also that scene where they find all the books and Montag takes one; it was as if Shannon's character was pushing him towards reading. Not to mention covering the Yuxie (which I thought was a pretty crap name for a nod to Alexa/Siri) from listening when discovering Montag was slowly turning.

My guess (having never read the book or seen previous versions) is that people like him (Shannon's character) will always be hypocrites and follow orders no matter what.
