I tried to watch this and had to bail. There's no character development so I ask you - why would I care about characters I know little about?

I watched about an hour and I also thought it was pretty bad. They turned this reboot into a generic horror film aimed at teenagers. The original was no masterpiece but it is definitely more watchable and features a great cast of actors all in their prime.

I re watched the original film after attempting to watch this because I could barely remember it and yeah, it was much better than this dreck. I think for the era it was made in, it was pretty epic from what I remember.
