Judging by all the comments and reactions in the trailer reviews for this on Youtube I think Disney has a winner here!! The original holds a special place in many people's hearts and nothing will ever top it but after watching this new trailer it should ease any qualms people had about it as it appears Disney has really made a conscious effort to capture the "essence" of the original ... but the one thing that everyone is going crazy over is that they've included 2D/live action sequences in it just like the original and didn't resort to doing it all "CGI". The only thing I was hoping for was a little bit more of some of the new musical numbers in this one but Emily Blunt barely gets to sing one phrase which doesn't really give much of an indication as to what the songs will be like ... the bar was set pretty high when you have "A Spoonful of Sugar", "Chim Chim Cheree", and "Supercali ..." to live up to. So happy to see Dick Van Dyke has a small role but I completely understand why Julie Andrews turned them down ... she didn't want to take any of the spotlight away from Emily Blunt and you know that would have been inevitable because as soon as she would have appeared on screen people would have said "There's the REAL Mary Poppins". Nobody will ever compare to Julie Andrews but I think Emily Blunt will be a fine successor.
