I'm two thirds through the movie, and just wanted to ask about a line or two...

Alejandro & Isabel are baking driven towards the border by the deaf farmer, and Alejandro tells Isabel to tell people that she is paying him to pretend to be her father. She asks him why not just say he is her father, and he replies:

"Because your lies will be different from mine. Now we have the same lie".

What exactly did he mean by that line?
