Terwijl Shinn zijn woede loslaat op de Orb-vloot, gaan Kira en Athrun de confrontatie met elkaar aan in de strijd, en een van deze levenslange vrienden wordt verslagen. Terug in het PLANT-thuisland denkt voorzitter Durandal terug aan zijn verleden en overweegt hij zijn plannen voor de toekomst... plannen die de verwijdering van verstorende elementen zoals Lacus en de Archangel-bemanning vereisen. In de nasleep van de strijd komt Shinn tot een noodlottige beslissing. Stella, de vijandelijke piloot die hij ooit beloofde te beschermen, zit nu gevangen aan boord van de Minerva. Stella's fysieke toestand gaat snel achteruit en Shinn zal alles waarin hij gelooft moeten verraden om haar leven te redden.
