I thought it was a good movie, and it was especially nice to have a movie with female lead that isn't spouting SJW propaganda. But I think some people are overhyping it a bit.

There are many questions left unanswered; What happened to those on Mars? Why does no one in the planetside city build aircraft to try and get into the sky city? And the ending...Does Alita REALLY think that they will let her get into the sky city, after she directly threatening the big boss? I doubt anyone ever gets to go to the sky city, for any reason. I mean, think about it. What possible role could they play in the sky city, which is filled with the elite of society? But they have to give the unwashed masses on the ground hope that it's possible, I guess, or else there will be revolt.

Now I expect these questions have been answered in the full manga series, and would be answered in any movie sequels if they are done. But after The Last Jedi did such a 'great' job of answering the questions left open by The Force Awakens, I'm rather soured by the idea of having to wait for a sequel to get such answers. If Hollywood can 'subvert our expectations' once, they can do it again.
