Overall, I (think) I enjoyed this...but one thing I struggled with from the start and think undermined the rest of the film, is the way all of the actors have clearly been asked to deliver every line as deadpan as possible, devoid of emotion, or even much expression. It's a sort of Wes Anderson style, except his is tongue in cheek and used for whimsy, whereas this is like everybody is automatons. It's especially strange as the premise of the film is so emotive, everything from the revenge to the family anguish. The plot only exists at all because of the emotions of all the characters, so why has the director instructed that they all basically read the lines without acting them. I honestly think this film would have been fantastic if the actors had been allowed to actually act.

I swear for the longest time watching this film I thought it was going to be revealed that they are in the future or parallel universe and they are actually robots. The whole film was just weird, especially the delivery of lines. I still dont know what the director was going for with that aspect.

It was really weird, especially the daughter towards the end. Her delivery was especially creeping me out.
I do feel like the dad was showing emotions as he was sobbing, and also when he was screaming outside at Martin’s house. But generally I do agree that most of the lines were very straight laced, deadpan and monotone at times. Made it scarier to me.
