Discuss Call Me by Your Name

In the last 15 minutes of the movie, a succession of "negative"/polarised scenes flash by for just a second. This style is never used prior to this nor after. My guess is this represents Oliver imagining them being a public couple but does anyone else have other ideas?

Negative becomes positive , positive becomes negative ....Man, Woman ... same. It is all emotions

It was probably to express Elio’s difficult emotions, feeling inside-out, upside down.
