Wasn't Ug's transformation to Johnny Steel was amazing?

When i saw this on video as a kid 31 years ago i thought when Ug transformed into Johnny Steel "Oh wow, how did they do that?".

I really miss the old school practical FX from back in the day.

Yes CGI can do some good things like T2, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Jurassic Park or Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy but practical in great.

Jurassic Park was the perfect mix of practical and CGI.
I don't mind CGI. I just think it gets overused.

Well Rocket Raccoon proved to be the best CGI creation in recent memory you know and can make a raccoon move/talk/shoot a gun.
