Über Wenn du stirbst, zieht dein ganzes Leben an dir vorbei, sagen sie diskutieren

I'm usually much more of a lurker, but I'm looking to liven this place up and sstir up discussion some more :) so please excuse me if I have trouble stringing two sentences together.

I was lucky to catch a screening of the film yesterday. I admit that I had a loose idea of what the movie would be about before going in. I'm a sucker for Groundhog's Day type movies, and I rather liked the light premise of the set taken place at a high school.

For those who read the book and who has seen the film, what are the differences, and which one do you like better? I suspect the book is probably better, as books tend to be, but I was curious as to what changes or lack of detail the film made.

I did have one thing that rather irked me at the end. I get that Sam figured out she had to save Juliette's life in order to stop the cycle. I don't understand why she didn't make a bigger effort to at least talk to her when she was at school earlier in the day. In an earlier cycle, she saw Juliette drawing. I felt like it would have been nice had she tried to talk to her earlier in the day and give her a compliment. Perhaps it's the cynic in me, but I feel like her pushing Juliette out of the way would have possibly just caused more bullying toward her. I can see horrible teenagers telling her it was all her fault, and that she should be dead instead of Sam ... because kids are cruel. I guess I just didn't like that ending.

I loved how Sam grew and changed and became less of a follower and found herself again. I loved the day where she just got angry and decided to say whatever she wanted. It was a nice change of pace.

What did all of you think?

I did not read the book, but someone who did so wrote an article saying that the film was largely faithful to the novel. https://www.bustle.com/p/the-before-i-fall-movie-vs-book-shows-that-readers-will-be-happy-with-this-adaptation-41669

The article says that the chief difference was that the book told you in the beginning that Sam died. But I concluded at the beginning that Sam died in the crash, (even though it was not clearly shown). I felt all along that she still had to die. By the final act I guessed how it would end, and before the final scenes I'd guessed exactly how it would end.

I am a fan of Ground Hog Day. Before I Fall was okay, and I suspect a lot of teenaged girls would like it a lot.

Just watched it as it has just become available on Uverse. I knew nothing about the book. I liked the movie until the end. I agree with previous comments that saving Juliet may have been enough to end the cycle and Sam could have lived on. After watching 13 Reasons Why, I also agree that Sam's death would cause huge trauma for her community. Numerous lives would be altered and likely worse. The movie was 98 minutes, so I would have been OK with a 2 hour move where Sam figures out how to save Juliet and herself.
