Honestly I prefer sequels in general but this movie looks so much better than the first one.

It is a lot better than the first and yes it is a prequel. It's got the standard jump scares but it's much better made

The first movie was average, still way better than what professional reviewers were claiming. But this one looks way better.

First one was a decent flick. Had its moments, but this one was DEFINTELY a step up. Director David F. Sandberg (Lights Out and now the DC comic book movie Shazam!) has a bright future ahead of him!

Lights Out was a pretty good horror movie.

How does it tie to it? I wathced the first movie but kinda forgot a lot about it lol. Maybe you (or someone else) could explain, with a spoiler warning?.
