I liked Oblivion, which is by the same director.... is this worth checking out?
I've seen the trailer a few times when I was in the theatre, i avoid them otherwise, but it didn't seem compelling.
I liked The Finest Hours, which seems like it might be similar in some way (coastguards instead of forest firefighters).

I found it to be really interesting. I say that because living in Arizona; I of course remember when all the guys lost their lives fighting this one particular fire. Based from a true story, and already knowing the ending is of course like watching the Titanic going down in the movie "Titanic" (1997.) I found it interesting because of all the local towns and areas being called out by name, and of course with the familiar surroundings even though it was not recorded in Arizona; it was recorded in a near by state with similar sites.
"Only the Brave" (2017) has a 8.1 rating on IMDB, and I found it to be a much better movie than I thought it was going to be.

I'll have to check it out when it gets to Apple TV as it isn't showing at my local cinema anymore... was there for only a week...

It was pretty good. Just don't go into it expecting something fast paced like deepwater horizon. For the most part it is a slow paced drama but all the actors do a fine job.

it is interesting story, but movie itself sucks, way too long buildup, was checking time when it will finally end since there was not much happening until the very end, maybe if they would shave at least 30-40mins from runtime it would be better movie, now i think this story would better suit documentary

It's a good story and interesting to see a glimpse of what these firefighters go through and the danger they deal with.

Just saw this movie last night. It was a little long, but in my opinion the time was well-filled. I liked the fleshing out of the guys and their personal lives (so much so that I cried for about the last 15 minutes -- even though I obviously knew how it was going to end). Definitely recommend, but keep the kleenex handy, lol.
