Not really a horror, same way Jenifer's Body is also not a horror movie. It is, though, a very good movie that I really liked, but it is not for everyone. It is sort of metaphoric and symbolic coming out of age fable with a lot of gross and nasty stuff in it, but it's sure done masterfully and in a very disturbing way. I guess it kinda reminded me Nekromantik and Naked Blood in some themes and in general effect, but Raw has a bit different story and meaning. In any case if you have good stomach for explicit and gross stuff I can recommend this.
Up until the first "key" scene it is very strange and disconcerting as the movie is shot like a drama/thriller... afterwards, when it gets increasingly crazy it starts to feel like more of a horror film as it gets more over the top..
Yes, there is sex and nudity, but it is a French movie, so it's to be expected...
Very graphic though blood-wise... So not for the faint of heart... It's a good movie though, not at all like Saw and torture porn...

You'll probably like the graphic novel Black Hole.

I'll try to check it out, thanks. Usually I don't like stories about teenagers when it's from a point of view of a teenagers. This is why I really disliked 13 Reasons Why, I didn't feel it was meant for adults. I do like when it's an adult point of view on teenagers either as reflection on the past or just an outside point of view.
To people that liked Raw I can actually recommend an Ukrainian movie The Tribe, about life in the community of teens in the boarding school for the deaf. Very eerie and bleak movie with couple of horrible scenes. There is not a single line of spoken dialog in it, it's challenging at start to watch, but if you do stick to it you will remember that one for a long time, for sure.
