I don't know; I've never watched the original, or read the book. But, I do understand from reading through this thread it's pretty much the same, and done differently if that makes sense.

That's perfectly fine; I never knew if you've seen the original or read the book, and that's why I put the word spoiler in my comment. Personally; I think the ending really sucks, and that's why this movie left a bad taste in my mouth (sort of speak!)

I loved the original story and despite of the ending being rather original I'd prefer it to end in another way.
