Having seen and enjoyed the 1974 version of Murder on the Orient Express, I was surprised tho hear that there will be a remake of this story.
For everybody, who knows the story, the question immediately arises: what about the ending? Will they change it? No, of course not. That's what's so special about Murder on the Orient Express. But how can it still be interesting for the people who already know the story? It's like: would we go to see a remake of The Sixth Sense?

I doubt they'd change the ending. Even the dreaful Alfred Molina version from 2001, which set everything in the modern day, kept the basic plot intact.

I think they might change or add a few details. They also seem to be having flashbacks of the murder / kidnapping, which I am excited for!

Look at the cast. Kenneth Branagh, Judy Densch, and Derek Jacobi! Such fine actors would never consider altering Agatha Christie's masterpiece in any way. The challenge for any good writer or director is to give fans the story they're familiar with while keeping the film tense for neophytes. They may update the time period, but the bones of the story will remain intact, imo.
The only question mark is the writer, whose history has typically revolved around superheroes and sci Fi, not classic mysteries. We'll see.

I thoroughly enjoy the 1974 version but am not a fan of either TV remake (David Suchet excluded, of course). While I was a bit skeptical when I first heard of the project, I'm definitely curious and cautiously optimistic about the final cut...at least until I saw Poirot's mustache!

They released a trailer at CinemaCon, it will be released online soon enough. It got positive reactions. According to Yahoo, they quoted it as being, "stylish, dark and menacing,". Interested in seeing it soon!

Thanks for that.
First look and I want to get some scissors and trim Poirot's handlebar mustache and get rid of that goatee. Doesn't look like Poirot at all.

This version seems ridiculous in every single way.

I wouldn't bank on the cast for quality. Laurence Olivier made some awful dreck in his waning years. It's called estate building.
On the plus side, the initial trailer does confirm that they're keeping it as a period piece, although replacing Arbuthnot with an African-American doctor does seem odd.
