I'm not big into The Fast & Furious franchise as I'm not car or action obsessed, but for this one, it looks like a nice big action cheese fest with three solid leads (and think I spoiled the reveal of Kevin Hart & Ryan Reynolds for myself, casting like that is usually meant to be a surprise).
A good way to go brain dead for two hours? Do I need any past knowledge of the F&F franchise?

You don't need to watch any of the others BUT I highly recommend you watch Fast Five anyway because it's far and away the best of the series.

I'd say so - Haven't seen any f&f movies but I don't think that made much (if any) difference watching this.
Like you said a quality "cheese fest"...

He made 4 appearences on MadTV as 'President Gin Kew Yun Chun Yew Nee'. The only other video I could find doesn't work.
