Discuss Red Dust

Just filled with suggestions that would never make it to the theaters post code. There's a lot to like in this one but the chemistry between Harlow and Gable is real. It's hard to have a love triangle when clearly those two were meant for each other. Now, I am I big fan of Mary Astor... and she is smoking hot when she's rescued from the rain by Gable. She just don't have the palpable chemistry with Gable Harlow does. I've been going through Best Jungle Movies on Decider and filling in the gaps for the few I haven't seen.

Yeah, Gable and Harlow are sensational as a made-for-each-other "friends with benefits" take-what-each-can-get, and genuinely fond of one another, almost-couple in this movie. The performance that each gives seems entirely natural and spontaneous, and, as you mentioned, the chemistry between the two is undeniable.

This has always been probably my very favourite Pre-Code film. The only weak points in it for me are the (like usual) super-annoying Willie Fung performance, and the bland (but consistent with the Gary Willis character) Gene Raymond performance.

I'm glad you didn't dismiss Astor. She's very good. Willie Fong is always rough. I'm glad he got to steal some scenes but yeah. The film didn't need that (nor do I want to see it)

I actually love (like I always do) Mary Astor in this movie.

By the way, I consider her my all-time favourite actress. She's perfect and wonderful in every role she ever appeared in, in my opinion.
