I just watched this after some people talked about this on the "Outpost 31" (The Thing Fans FB Page.)

For a DTV movie, I liked this. Yes, there are some homages to some of my favorite Horror movies here - Hellraiser, the Thing, From Beyond & Re-Animator. I'm cool with that - no one else it making cryptic Sci Fi Horror in this vein very much, if at all the last many years, and these guys did a fine job.

Special Effects were nice and gory - some down right creepy AF physical acting via Silent Hill(esque) types of characters. For me, the story line balances well between the mystery of WTF is happening, to revealing enough to get more weirded out by what's going to happen next. The actors did well too. Some of the situations they were written into seemed a bit awkward, but this didn't detract at all for me, from being entertained.

Cool story line with an ambiguous conclusion - did the job for me. Not enough movies are made like this, and there should be.
