Seriously. Not a bad thing mind you. I really enjoyed the practical creature effects. You can tell they blew most of the budget on it since they basically filmed everything in one location. The acting was top notch IMO. Really enjoyed the leads, Kathleen Munroe and Aaron Poole. Very believable and heartbreaking. The character development was lacking. Wished they got more into it, instead of introducing some characters and than BAM, right to the crazy action. The pacing was also a bit off for me. It seemed like towards the end of the film they just wanted to get it over as fast as possible. And of course the ending. Dont expect a neat little package at the end. But than again I wasnt really expecting that at all. Its left up to the audience to decide what happened. If you are a horror fan dont pass this one up. If you are a 'normal' human being that dosent like to see nightmares brought to life stay far far away. A solid 7/10 for me.

trust me, you did not miss a thing. i just watched it online and thought it was very poor. terribly edited too, so that any sort of pacing or tension was washed away. i'll never understand how this got 73% on RT. this is not a patch on hellraiser, or the thing, or event horizon, or sunshine, or in the mouth of madness or any of the films it copies from.

They had some tension and build up. But like I said in my initial post, the pacing/editing was off. I feel like if they had more money and time they could have flushed out more of the characters. You didnt really get attached to any of them except the two leads. I also hear that this was a crowd funded film so that should help people realize put it into perspective AKA lack of funds.
Did the best they could with what they had, and I respect that.

the issues i have with this film do not have anything to do with funding. effective editing is partly to do with instinct - some of the scenes were a few seconds too long, or were poorly connected. plus the plot was incoherent. imo you don't need lots of money to make a gripping film. it is not a horror film, but locke just has tom hardy on the phone in a car for about 80 minutes. hardly high budget, but very well executed nonetheless. i'm glad you enjoyed the void but i thought it was a bit of a mess.
