Was that really Hayworth's singing in that scene? I gotta admit, that scene had me mesmerized just like the bathroom attendant that was watching her. Even got me humming it at work today after watching it this morning while getting ready for work. Anyways, this is a classic noir film and I recommend it to just about anybody. It is so cleverly written that most people will miss the sexual innuendos sprinkled throughout the film but even without picking up on the secret messages it is still a fine film. Thank the gods they haven't remade it yet.
Gilda (1946) - 3.5 outta 5 stars

Hi Invidia!
I'm a HUGE fan of film noir, much more than sci-fi if you can imagine, so I just will eat up any suggestion you throw at me. I looked up the The Woman in the Window and stars Edward G. Robinson who is a great actor and was HUGE in his time. I will definitely add it to my queue at Netflix. But if you ever wanna talk film noir, I'm a pretty good authority on it.

That link you provided is a damn good copy BTW. THANKS!

That's the one wherein Rita Hayworth says, (paraphrasing?) "I hate you so much, I would destroy myself to take you down."

It seems her singing was dubbed in everything she did. For some reason, it makes me sad.
UPDATE: But it looks as though she did sing in the scene I am talking about (with the guitar) but not the big scene.

HA HA! That's where I got my info as well. Good ol' wikipedia. I'm not suprised he liked Rita better as Rogers gave the impression of being a drip personality wise. Haywood had latin and Irish fire running through her blood. She was one helluva woman. Fiery to say the least.

I have no doubt BR2049 will be profitable. But I'm almost afraid for them to make it because they will probably screw it up. Those holograms of famous performers was a hot commodity back in the early 00s amongst the richies. Surprised it never caught on mainstream. Did you ever see Vanilla Sky ?

This film is so film noir, it'd suck if they tried to update it to the present day.

It would be a disaster. I have very little confidence with what they are doing in Hollywood nowadays. I wish someone with an original bone in their body would show up in that town.
