Discuss The Bad Kids

I loved their model of self-study/self-pacing and graduation. It was certainly a lot of work, but wow, what results. I was particularly touched by the intimacy and individuality of their graduation ceremony...so much more meaningful than the cattle-herding we typically do at the end of the school year. I realize it's a result of their unique environment/approach, but I couldn't help but think this worked so beautifully on so many levels (affirming the hard work and perserverance/being affirmed by the teachers/staff and your peers/encouraging other students who are still in the struggle/etc).

I especially liked that the principle/director walked you down the hall past all the students, then you walked back "out" through the students alone. Such a great analogy for life!
