Discuss The Salesman

English language films seem to increasingly revel in graphically portraying impending or actual sexual violence against women and making the poor actress act out the trauma in the name of entertainment. Here we have a touch that is both more delicate and more impactful. The event does not need to be shown for the impact of be felt. It allows the film to be an intriguing whodunnit, to focus on what actually the matters for the story (the response to the event rather than the event itself) and to retain some decency and dignity.

Probably my second favourite Farhadi film after the superb Beautiful City.
