Discuss Graduation

A low level tale of domestic strife would be easily overlooked without some knowledge of Romanian politics and culture. It is interesting to see a film dealing with the low level corruption found, in a country that a year or two later saw mass protests against government plans to grant amnesties for some convicted of corruption.

It is nicely told to show how normal individuals can get caught up in corruption while trying to do the right thing. The director seems to ask when a favour becomes corruption and takes a dim view of it. He is probably right if Romania is to avoid suffering the appalling waste going on in the likes of neighbouring Moldova.
