I dunno, I found this very entertaining in it's own way. Highlights include:
Elias Koteas - scenery chewing as Robert de Niro playing Columbo
Casey Affleck - mumbling and emotionless just like from Jerry (and most of his other films)
Wholesome and highly realistic depictions of female responses to domestic physical abuse
Grade A special effects
A really worthwhile cameo from Bill Pullman
The line "it was suicide" (worth the price of admission alone)
Stellar acting from Alba
It was truly horrid but I didn't regret watching it, it really held my attention as I was dying to see how the director pulled off ending this mess. There is speculation that the ending was in Ford's head, but if so, it seemed a bit off to have such a coherent conversation with Pullman regarding why Pullman had arrived. Or why the film had shown no other signs of mental illness from Ford beyond being psychotic.
So I'm going to be that one person who says it wasn't that bad (I'm bracing for the incoming tomatoes).
I'll be generous and give it a 3 out of 5, or a 6 out of 10 (then again, I'm an easy grader, and can usually find at least SOMETHING redeeming in almost any movie).
I thought Jessica Alba did an adequate job, and yes, even Casey Affleck, as the unassuming, quiet psycho. Granted, although Alba's character still wanting Affleck's character even after she suffered facial disfigurement as a result of his actions may seem a "tad" over the top, I do remember reading on the old IMDB, from a poster who was supposedly female, that "we love who we love."
This just goes to further support my belief that women are often positively, absolutely, just as nuts and twisted as men often are.
Weird movie where the sheriffs shoot a guy running shouting "help", then shoot Jessica Alba when she gets stabbed... and finally everything explodes (but didn't they smell the smell of petrol??) Absurd....

I recall freaking out when Kate Hudson's character got punched so hard in the abdomen that I believe she died!! I later thought about it and was like, "Oh yeah... I guess that can happen!" It just weirded me out.
I also agree that it sucks when a movie forces the "good guy" and "bad guy" into your throat. It's a manipulative practice.

Might be one of the worst movies ever made. i hate films that force who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. awful.

I can just look at that cast and know it's going to be dogshit. I DGAF if you resurrected Billy Wilder to write and direct it.

Kind of makes me wonder if the original film is as bad.

4/10 (the best 4/10 I've ever seen)

I hate this too. I've seen a lot of it in recent years with various films.

Women are the original lunatics. You can't even remotely compare them to men.
