It's underperforming everywhere since the opening day.
Is it because of bad word of mouth, public indifference or Aladdin overperforming?

I honestly don't know.
This movie is 1000000 times better than Snoozilla 2014. Now that movie was bloody awful.

I think its SEVERAL factors, INCLUDING Aladdin still doing well.
A. Godzilla 2014 probably turned a lot of regular moviegoers off due to its slow pacing and lack of monster action.
B. Not only 'Aladdin', but 'Rocketman', 'Ma' and other holdover 'John Wick 3' also performing over expectations this weekend...This week has 'Dark Phoenix' and 'Secret Life of Pets 2'...too much competition!
C. Lack of an A-lister (Kong: Skull Island had the benefit of known stars like Sam Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson & John Goodman). Sorry, but Vera Farmiga & Millie Bobby Brown aren't quite "get butts in seats" stars.
D. The less then stellar reviews.
Despite all that, it still managed to make $179 mill Worldwide...of course, the budget (not counting marketing) was $170 mill, so it still has a way to go to be in the "black". Very sad, but its looking more like Godzilla vs Kong will likely be the LAST in the Monsterverse.
