Discusión El muñeco de nieve

this was really bad. I got it out of the redbox tonight. The first hour or so he is just kind of wandering around Norway aimlessly. All we know is that he is some drunk British cop named Harry Hole that is for some reason passed out drunk on Norwegian streets and somehow connected to this killer. Then in the second half of the film we get to see a few deaths but we still have no reason why these people are dying. Maybe it's explained at the end but by then I was already half asleep and lost focus. I really put this on with an open mind and I thought, "it can't be that bad". I remember the critics tore the girl on the train up also and I didn't think it was that bad. The Snowman was that bad and maybe even worse. Why did Val kilmer look and sound so weird? Was that even his voice or some kind of voice over.

I'm really disappointed they used Kilmer as they did in this fiasco. The man needs to recuperate, not be traipsing around in a disappointingly bad "thriller." Based on this film, I'm wondering about the quality of the novel(s) it's based on. The story here is pretty jejune.

A "brilliant" Detective who happens to have drink issues (and often falls asleep out-doors in bone-chilling weather) is looking into a serial killer who took a break and has now returned. All of this happens w/o plausible explanation...he took a break during Medical School?

After seeing how bad the film was I did a few google searches online about the novels and apparently they are very well written and each murder will take up a few chapters in the book. This film is apparently based on the 7th novel which is the next to last novel in the Harry Hole series. I wonder why they jumped to book 7. Even more shocking is that Martin Scorcese was the executive producer!!!! How do you have this much talent attached to a film and THIS is the final result? Not only that but this director has directed 2 other films I actually liked. This film apparently went through production hell and the country of Norway was rushing to have them finish so the director says 15 percent of the script was scrapped and not even filmed. It still doesn't explain why the studio would have even released this product. Couldn't they have finished the rest of the film in Canada and used CGI to make it seem like Norway? This is not uncommon at all. I have seen plenty of films with a Seattle setting that were actually filmed in Vancouver.

I can never figure out how Hollywood consistently tries to adapt good books so poorly. Follow the book to a T and you will be alright. Apparently they also cut a lot of of the book out. So I guess now Harry Hole will never return to the big screen. They made this same mistake with Jack Reacher Never Go Back. They tried to adapt the worst book out of the entire series and did it poorly. Makes you wonder why they didn't try and adapt the book "Personal" since it's a lot faster paced in a London setting.

The novel is very good. I couldn't belive how bad the movie was. Key moments of the story just left out. I was like WTF several times while watching this shit. It did not make sense.
