Discuter de The Snowman

I was covering Geostorm so I sent Michael to cover it. He said that while it does have flaws, it is an entertaining film in parts and is not as bad as people have been saying.

I never trust critics, and most often Rotten Tomatoes. I haven't read the book(s), but the movie looks interesting.

I can't say that I was a big fan of the movie. It felt like it was trying to hard to be a David Fincher movie. I'm all for snowy and bleak thrillers (Wind River was probably one of the strongest movies that I've seen all year) but this one was a little short off the mark. It had the potential but there wasn't a whole lot to care about in regards to any of the characters.

I agree with simian_ninja, film had potential but did not deliver full potential - I lost interest in some parts of it. Shame as could have been so much better.

I also agree with simian_ninja. You couldn't get into the characters due to the pacing and cutting of the film. Rebecca Ferguson's character was killed so easily (and she didn't even look dead), plus so many stupid police detective work. The only positive was the cinematography. Wind River was much better, this, I have to say, was a huge disappointment.

Also casting Val Kilmer was a terrible idea. He looked weird and I couldnt even tell it was him at first. I was put off all his scenes just by how bad he looked.

I'm going to have to disagree w/ the O.P.

This one's quite a dreadful mistake. It's not all bad and at least one actor (J.K. Simmons) looked okay in his role (although the film obviously turns him into a red-herring creep, to the point it was embarrassing to watch.)

But for the most part, The Snowman moves along at a random, dreary, hard to keep up pace. Fassbender's supposed to be a brilliant Detective w/ drink issues; we rarely see him doing anything to promote those ideas. Rarely if ever does he look motivated.

Speaking of ideas, there are quite a few bone-headed ones shown. Sevigny as twins? The ridiculous dub-over done for Kilmer? Toby Jones and Adrian Dunbar shown in a few scenes but given hokey dialogue for the most part? The way "Oleg" keeps getting left out in the cold, literally, by his Mother's ex? Absolutely no explanation for the snowmen nor the dismembering of bodies and shotgun killings?

Oh, wow this one was hard to watch. I'm going to have to view "Jane Eyre" again a dozen times to remind me why I've appreciated Fassbender as an actor following his eye-opening turn (speaking for myself) in Tarantino's revisionist W.W.2 mini-epic.
