...Kind of curious as to what accent everybody was aiming for...I thought this was set in England but I'm guessing they are going to keep with the Nordic setting?

It's set in Norway and every single person talks perfect english. I think there was a dude called Svenson too who looked about as swedish as Whoopi Goldberg.

They should have aimed for Swedish accents... using English accents as a surrogate for other accents works better when there are other accents to contrast against, like American for example...
It doesn't work in this movie

I'm able to suspend disbelief if the movie is well acted. I didn't mind the remake of the girl with the dragon tattoo but then again I had previously watched the Swedish trilogy and I already knew where the story was going. Is this film worse than the dragon tattoo remake?

Somewhat late reply, but I'd say this is worse by a large margin. The Dragon tattoo remake was no masterpiece, but this is just mediocre and you'll most likely guess who the killer is by the midpoint of the film and sit there bored waiting for it to end.

It is a joint UK/USA/Sweden production that is billed as a 'British crime thriller horror' film directed by a Swede, filmed in Norway. Adapted from a novel by Jo Nesbø (a Norwegian) by Peter Straughan (British) & Hossein Amini (Iranian). And the cast is a mixture of German, British, Danish, Swedish, American, Norwegian, & Scottish. It must have been hard to keep all of the accents 'similar '?
