Discuss 007:生死交戰

News article:

... Daniel Craig Is the Best James Bond — It’s Not Even Close

Excerpts:

"An appreciation of how the ‘No Time to Die’ star revitalized a decades-old franchise — and gave us the strongest, most vital interpretation of 007 of them all"
...
"He was blonde, for starters — that was enough to throw some purists into a tizzy. Stockier, too, with a pugilist’s build, and muscles that looked earned rather than sculpted in a gym. Handsome, but not in a pretty way, with that barroom brawler’s mug of his. Those blue eyes were less suggestive of matinee-idol seductiveness than a subzero temperature, chilling everything right beneath the surface. Unlike many of the previous Agent 007s, his vibe was way more East End than Eton, and the confidence of his movements only emphasized that he was a coil perpetually on the edge of springing. Still, he could do everything that was required for the role: handle a gun, throw a punch, trot the globe, quaff a martini, drive sports cars at high speeds, look good while blowing up an island lair, look great in a tuxedo, convince you he could bed numerous women in a single night and kill a man with his bare hands. There was nothing that suggested that, given the right circumstances and a halfway decent villain to go up against, Daniel Craig couldn’t make for a perfectly capable James Bond."
...
"Craig’s flesh-and-bone interpretation not only kept Casino Royale from feeling like a generic action movie coasting on pedigree; it would lay the groundwork for the next four Bond films that came after. The screenwriters, notably series veterans Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, began to tread into territory where the sins of mothers and fathers would keep weighing on sons and daughters. Bond was often a man with an long kill sheet, an endless supply of innunendos and no real past; that would change drastically, and now seems impossible to imagine without Craig gifting 007 with a heart and soul to match the physique. (There are a lot of cracks about Bond’s age in these movies, but Craig is the only Bond who shows up in more states of undress than his female costars, and, regardless of your sexual preferences, it’s extremely easy to see why.)"
...
"Now that we can see how his run ends, the achievement is even more impressive. Fleming’s Bond is in there, with his love of queen and country and specifically made martinis and sharp lapels and expensive watches. But by this swan song’s final fade-out, you’re seeing Craig’s Bond up there. He owns him now. With all due respect to Connery, Moore, and everyone who’s had the privilege to be licensed to kill, nobody’s done Bond — the larger-than-life archetype and the man — better."

....... And about Roger .... I love him as Bond. Octopussy & Live and Let Die... are my favorites. Roger is brilliant and such a lovely Gentleman

Like I said in my first post ,I'm no fan of the franchise , I’m no fan of action packed scenes and I have only seen snippets ... Moore I never liked as an actor to start off with .... that he was a gentleman in really life, I'll take your word, I was talking about the actor as Bond when I said insipid and underfed.

Bond is a spy and seeing all the acrobatics he gets himself in ,I just didn't think he looked the part...Daniel Craig did for me. Tastes do differ.

Yeah.... he is. A very kind hearted guy. I won't be saying much now .... but someone who i know has met him in person and she was amazed how humble .... and at the same time funny he was. Meeting a stranger and giving out a gift ..... not many celebs i know do that.

by The Bear:

Me neither ..... But my point is .... I love him as Bond. About .... Octopussy & Live and Let Die .... i own them. As i said earlier .... they're my favorite.

So you are saying despite he doesn’t look physically the part of a spy that does all those acrobatic antics , you still love him as Bond ?

Does he pair well with the Bondgirls in those two films ?

You're no fan of the franchise yet you've created a rather extensive list of the franchise if this is you on a subject you care little about then god help the planet and the internet when you stumble upon something you really like.

@ to the Bear.

I went and check who the Bond girls were in Octopussy and Live and Let Die , your favourite Bond films with Roger Moore.

Maude Adams I never heard of but apparently still has a big fan base that loved her as Octopussy.

Jane Seymour I know from the series Dr.Quinn which I loved . .. I had no idea she was a Bond girl.

Nice chatting with you!

He does physically look the part of a spy and he blends in and is skinny and agile you clearly haven't got a clue who Roger Moore is.

I was replying to the op : Daniel Craig is the best Bond?

I gave my opinion on each Bond and then my verdict .

You labeled my first post with the extensive list of the franchise , childish … so why are you wasting your time with me? Go buzz elsewhere.

Thanks for proving my point. Who on Earth composes a list about a subject they don't give a fuck about. In my experience it's the people that couldn't care less that care the most. Whether it's comic book movies or Bond films.

Sunshite, you had no idea Jane Seymour was a Bond girl? Please how long do we have to endure your trolling?

@to The Bear

Yes,I can see to what extent you love Octopussy , it must have felt a dream come true. ✈️

Mecha and I have are old acquaintances.. we have had our squabbles nevertheless his posts often offer great insight.

By Damienracer:

You and Mechajutaro are old friends? The pretentious lists, the irritating trolling of subjects and genres that neither care about but have to make themselves known anyway was a bit of a clue.

I know mecha from another board. Don’t see what that has to do with my take on the subject in discussion.

I was honest from my first post .. I’m no fan of the franchise and I have seen snippets.. and I gave my honest opinion in regards to the different Bonds .

Like I said tastes differ .. if someone has a different opinion to mine I don’t automatically think they are trolling just that we see the matter differently.

Pull stop.

By the way Daniel Craig himself has an issue with his dumbo ears ..

By Damienracer:

It's the fact that you've seen snippets that makes you unqualified to comment you don't know what you're talking about

You are right .. having seen only snippets doesn’t make me an expert on the franchise but I can still offer my personal opinion.

I think Craig looks the part so the fact that I don’t think Moore does, makes sense seeing they have completely different builds ..

Also I prefer personal drama over action packed scenes .. Craig’s Bond was flawed and we get to see lots of backstory .. in the other Bonds no ..( I read the plots also) .

I don’t label someone a troll just because they have a different opinion.. Shame other posters can’t give/show me the same courtesy.

PS: you didn’t comment on the link I provided? This one:

by Danienracer:

You do know you can't be too muscular and be a believable spy, right? You think Roger was too skinny but the truth is that's what makes an agile spy. Dwayne Johnson as Bond wouldn't be believable.

I agree Dwayne Johnson would not look the part.. first off, he would stand out too much. He looks like a bear.

Eg: to dangle from a helicopter by a rope one needs to have muscle ..I just don’t see Moore’s thin frame believable .. thin as he is, he just wouldn’t have enough stamina to do some of those physically demanding action scenes.

On the other hand, Daniel has just the right amount of muscle to be believable in those (let’s face it often over the top ) action packed scenes.

If Bond was just an ordinary spy who wasn’t required to do all the acrobatic scenes , he could pass.

Daniel Craig was way shorter than the other actors who legitimately played Bond. Plus you have his more ugly Sid James-a-like features and beefy man titted physique to consider.

In short he literally did not look like a spy or someone with the sophisticated grace to effortlessly move within the casino / jet set crowds where he sought information. He would stand out like a sore thumb.

Not particularly realistic compared with any of the other Bonds.

By mecha:

I'm sympathetic to those who found The Craig Bond to be the most joyless and glum of them all, and I even agree that Babs Broccoli and the gang went overboard when it came to exploring his past and trying to give him a depth that's never been present in the character from the get go.

For me that was the best part.. the personal drama , turmoil . He was flawed and you felt his pain. Dark and gritty are engaging.

So you are only interested in the action packed scenes and the sexy gals.
