Sooooo, how did the baby survive in the first few months of life on Mars... it's not like they had baby formula with them just in case, and the mother being dead there would be no breast milk for the baby.
There are tons of plot holes and issues I found with this movie, but this was the first that struck me the most.

Astronaut food of today is nothing like what it used to be. Check out the liquid and semi-solid stuff that passed for food on the Pan Am flight up to the space station, then the straw-accessible goop that Bowman and Poole had on Discovery. It wouldn't take much more than hot water and some ingenuity to create baby food from the Mars colonist's rations. (This has been done over the ages by travelers and emigrants from Egypt to the Promised Land or from St. Louis to Oregon.) For the extreme in "care and feeding of junior," recall what "Willis Davidge" had to feed "Zammis" after "Jeriba Shigan" died on Fyrine IV in "Enemy Mine.";)
