Flighty young nurse Izumi Asakura longs to have her honeymoon in a far off tropical paradise but her doctor husband feels that he cannot afford to take time off from developing his career. To Izumi's dismay, Wakabakai General Hospital is fast becoming a far less pleasant place to work, thanks to the appointment of a militaristic chief nurse who demands steadfast adherence to protocol. Things get much worse, however, via the arrival of Saruwatari, a hypochondriac desperate to be re-admitted so that he can enjoy the attentions of nurse Shoko Ozaki. When the chief nurse has him ejected by security, Saruwatari comes back armed and takes everyone on the floor hostage. Shoko happened to be on her lunch break at the time and has trouble getting back into the building when the police swarm around it en masse. The authorities are not sure just how to deal with the situation, though, since the "victims" seem to be taking things far less seriously than they are.

La jeune infirmière Izumi Asakura rêve d'une lune de miel dans un paradis tropical lointain, mais son mari médecin fait passer sa carrière en priorité. Au grand désarroi d'Izumi, l'hôpital général de Wakabakai devient un lieu de travail beaucoup moins agréable, à cause de la nomination d'une infirmière en chef militariste qui exige le respect absolu du protocole. Les choses empirent cependant avec l'arrivée de Saruwatari, un hypocondriaque qui cherche désespérément à être réadmis pour pouvoir profiter des attentions de l'infirmière Shoko Ozaki. Lorsque l'infirmière en chef le fait expulser par la sécurité, Saruwatari revient armé et prend en otage tout le monde à l'étage. La police ne sait pas trop comment gérer la situation, car les "victimes" semblent prendre les choses beaucoup moins au sérieux qu'elle ne le fait.

物語の時期は明確ではないが、朝倉いずみ5年目途中から6年目途中の間に物語が始まったと考えられる。 根本が看護部長専任になっており、新婦長の矢口が着任している。大島が第2子を妊娠中で産休前であった。 劇中でかなりの期間が経過している。ラストで翔子が婦長に、産休から復帰した大島が主任に昇進している。 病院側スタッフの出演者から見ると、パート3の後日談であるが、このすぐ後に放映されたパート4にも尾崎婦長・大島主任の設定がそのまま引き継がれたり、一部の患者が引き続き入院しているところから、パート4の、そう離れていない時期の前日談にも相当している。処置室、ICUは救命病棟24時第二シリーズのセットが使われている。

병동대항 노래자랑의 우승상품은 해외여행. 이 해외여행을 목표로 필사적으로 연습을 강행하는 사상최강의 간호사, 아사쿠라 이즈미. 그녀가 그토록 필사적으로 해외여행을 가려는 것은 남편인 타카스기 켄타로와 허니문을 가고 싶어서이다. 그런 그녀 앞에 어서 빨리 의사로서 인정받고 싶은 타카스기 켄타로는 신혼여행 같은 걸 즐길 여유 따윈 없다고 결국 입 밖으로 내뱉고 이런 남편의 말에 이즈미는 홧김에 “우리 이혼해!”라는 말을 하게 되고 결국 둘은 냉전 상태로 들어간다. 한편, 퇴원한지 얼마 되지 않은 한 환자가 친절하게 자신을 돌보아 준 간호사를 잊지 못해 어떻게든 재입원을 시도한다. 하지만 그런 것이 통할 리가 있나. 그러자 급기야는 너스 스테이션을 점거하기에 이르는데...
