Discuss 壯志凌雲:獨行俠

"If you liked the first movie, you're going to absolutely love this one. Right from the beginning it just brings back all the feels of the original and what makes it so much better is that it's all practical. Once again Maverick, played by Tom Cruise, is flying a jet and there are real things happening on the screen. There is some minor CGI, but it is tangential to the action that is going on."

"In terms of story and dialogue it is pretty much what the original was. There's a bunch of shirtless dudes on the beach playing sports. wink Maverick reunites with Penny. The relationship between Maverick and Goose's son Bradley plays out exactly as you'd expect. "

"The stuff with the jets is just insane. There is the mission where you got to hit the target, not once, but multiple times, and you can't miss. Maverick has to turn off his guidance system and he flies through a windy valley to be below the radar of the missiles. The dog fights are quite intense. It's every cliché you could think of in an action movie and it's all spectacular."

I logged on to start this exact thread - for the most part, you took the words right out of my mouth!

Are those your words (the ones in italics)? Or did you copy/paste them from somewhere else?

Good point - yep, there ought to be a link or at least a mention of the source.

Maybe you will get a response? I have called them on this before (in other threads). They usually ignore me when I bring it up.

I actually liked this movie better than the original one, not that I didn't like the original. Mostly cause it had a clear goal and clear bad guy/good guy lines, whereas the original it was difficult to say who the protagonist/antagonist was as Maverick wasn't portrayed at all as a nice guys or even a good one. One could argue that Ice Man was the "bad guy", however most of the movie he just criticized how much of a reckless asshole Maverick was, which was not unjustified. Also the final battle at the end occurred so randomly, I couldn't even consider them as the "enemy" either.
