ITS LONG,BORING,CONFUSED,AND JUST PLAIN FUCKING STUPID...IS THAT WHAT YOU MEANT WHEN YOU SAID THAT STUPID SHIT YOU SAID?

Excuse me sir, but everyone needs to have their own opinion. No one is correct because it all depends on what you pull from it; "subjectivity".

That being said, I did think this film was magnificent but @hucko003 brings up a lot of points that I thought were well done. The score, of course, doesn't fit in with the film (and, imo, doesn't even fit in as a soundtrack with the way they structured the score's album) imo. The film is slow, that is a given. And it does feel like a PhD thesis, as well. But it doesn't really stop it from being a great film in my eyes.

Feli, Don't bother with the troll, he always posts negative comments all over the site (I'll bet he hasn't even seen the film). Just put him on ignore.

I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the remake. It’s very different in so many ways but it’s like having two good movies with the same central story but depending on what mood you’re in effects which one you watch. Tilda Swinton is such a great screen presence...even as an old man..lol

THE MOVIE PLAYS LIKE A DRUG ADDLED SORORITY SISTER'S BULLSHIT FINAL PROJECT FOR FILM CLASS.OH MY GOD...ITS PRETTY TO LOOK AT...SO ARE A LOT OF THINGS(NOT MOVIES).MOVIES SHOULD BE MORE THAN PRETTY TO LOOK AT..THE FLICK IS A MAJOR FAIL DESPITE WHAT THE PILLOW BITING ART HOUSE PRETENDERS ARE SPOUTING.

Watched it yesterday on Prime..and coming from a fan of the Original, I was a bit dissappointed, but let it "set" for a day...and I have an appreciation for what the filmmakers were going for...

..so many big studio "remakes" just retell the same story with more violence, gore & SFX (The Fog, Nightmare On Elm Street & Psycho come immediately to mind) and are simply inferior product! These filmmakers chose to tell a new story with only a few homages thrown in for good measure (Jessica Harper's cameo for example). The "twist" at the end was unique and I didn't see it coming! Of course, its LONG 2 1/2 running time & artsy freedoms make it a chore to sit through (and definitely not for the masses), but its well directed, well acted, and the settings were amazing!

Read that instead of tackling the other witches in a sequel (Mother of Darkness & Tears), the filmmakers want to tell a prequel based on Helena Markos, set some 700 years ago! I'd be game!!!!

yep not good. borderline terrible

My problem with most remakes, like The Fog is they go the other way and pg-13 that shit for a cash grab. They then lose any of the atmosphere, intensity or just plain, camp fun that the R rated original had. An R rating is no guarantee on a remake but as soon as I see PG-13 and a young cast it’s a hard pass for me. But a movie like the Thing prequel is just an example of you can’t capture that lightning in a bottle again. Competent actors and director and it’s not a terrible movie but Carpenter’s version is just so masterful they really didn’t have a chance. As much as I want more from the world of The Thing, Carpenter kind of ruined it by nailing it..lol

I personally haven't seen the remake but I have seen the original & wasn't impressed.

It has an interesting look, but I'm with you. I know I wanna see this new version, at least to hear Thom Yorke's score/soundtrack.
