lost interest after the voiceover heavy intro. and if they are going to use voiceover, use a guy with an engaging voice. was putting me to sleep. and really? they have to explain everything through voiceover? isn't that one of the biggest no-no's in storytelling? boring, uneven, just painfully terrible

Ha...when I saw the title of the film on the tube, I thought of Don Cheadle's character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But anyway, you're right: film is a visual medium and one thing every aspiring screenwriter is told is "show, don't tell." Also, if you're gonna tell us something via voice over, try not to show it at the exact same time.

Netflix not doing too well with their movies.

movies not as easy to make as TV.... they can't just churn out formulaic movies like they do with their TV shows and end up being celebrated by cirtics and audiences... the bar is higher for film, always has been, always will be...

The trailer made the movie look terrible. I don't like Brad Pitt in comedies.

Wait, this was supposed to be a comedy? I don't remember laughing once. Then again I pretty much forgot the whole thing already. Welcome to Netflops.

I say the same thing about those Adam Sandler comedies released by Netflix.

It was underwhelming, but I wouldn't call it terrible... I didn't know what to expect to be honest, given that I like David Michod's earlier movies like Animal Kingdom and The Rover, but those weren't comedies or satires...
The heavy narration was very bad... that's something that really stood out... Also, the movie could have used more laughs... It wasn't funny, nor satirical enough... At times seemed more cynical than anything else...

I had already planned on skipping it due to the trailers, so I don't feel like I'm missing anything by not re-subscribing to Netflix to watch it. You can tell me, but from the trailers Pitt played his character almost camp; he didn't seem actually human at all. If I'm going to watch satire, I prefer that the main antagonist seem serious-minded but that their actions and their consequences are what drives the comedy. If everyone seems in on "the joke" it's just not funny. Is that how this played out?

I really tried to like this movie but it's just too boring. Pitt's performance is very campy and it completely threw me out of the story. He is built up to be like a God of generals but Pitt's portrayal of him reminded me of Barney Fife.

I loved this movie. It was poorly advertised though. I was expecting it to be more of watch-and-forget comedy going in. I was pleasantly surprised at its incisiveness. The movie actually makes you care about good intentioned hero, but all of his actions show that he is an anti-hero and he is perceived as an anti-hero.
Everyone in the movie is in a bubble full of smoke. The Rolling Stones author enters the bubble, he sees though all the smoke and leaves the bubble. He shows them a mirror and says: "Here, look at your bubble full of smoke, this is where you live". Everyone in the bubble is in denial.
