Discuss The Devil's Candy

  1. Was the dad possessed by the same demon (or devil) as the other guy? If so, then why didn't he kill? Based on his artwork, it seemed like whatever possessed him gave him premonitions. And the final scene implied that those "dark forces" wanted him to find the remains of the victims. So was the dad ever actually "evil?"

  2. Why did the killer rearrange the suitcases in that one scene? He takes a bunch out of the hole and then moves a different one to the bottom. I wasn't sure if I missed something.

  3. How long had it been since the killer's parents died? And why was he never questioned about his mom's death? He was living there and then ran off after his parents died. And then soon after, local children start going missing! Why wasn't he ever investigated?

Regarding the first question. I think the film wanted us to believe that the father was possessed by the devil in order to build the tension, but the very end scene changed my mind that he actually had either god, an angel or perhaps one of the murdered children guiding him.

It shows him being led to the graves, looking up to the sky and light shining down on him. I believe the painting he did, was a way of letting him know about the children who were killed and a warning of what was going to happen to his daughter.

Good horror film!

I thought it was God showing him everything especially in the end God brought him to the yard to find the suitcases then looks up and it's a bright light

I think they showed him rearranging the suitcases (as opposed to just burying his recent victim) so that the audience would know where his multiple victims were, to set up the final scene.
