Discuss Mission: Impossible - Fallout

I found this movie very confusing and implausible. Having two characters similarly named (Lark and Lane) is a no no in most creative writing tutorials for good reason. I wasn't sure who Lark was - or how he factored in to the story - he was there to meet the pointless white widow and there were people who wanted to kill them both - I am not sure why. There is a chase that lasted ages (don't they all) through the streets on a motorbike which travelled miles and miles but nevertheless his team was there at exactly the right time at exactly the right manhole. Tom Cruise did his usual fast running just to prove how fit he was one supposes and the women fawned appropriately to his gorgeousness. The final scene just went on and on forever and was just silly in its improbability. I suppose it is an action movie but I do expect some semblance of a plot that is more than a stop the bomb going off story. I also find Simon Pegg miscast. He just doesn't cut it for me and the attempted comedy doesn't work. It was about an hour too long with two many fringe characters and unlikely situations with people turning up at the right spot with no good reason given as to how they knew where the team would be. It was obviously a vanity project but entertaining enough if you like mindless movies.

Have you considered the problem is less the film and more you?

Agree. I found the movie long and boring. No story whatsoever and it just went on and on and on and on and on ....

Also, the stunts were not that memorable compared to say Rogue Nation (RN), which I thought was one of the best entries in the MI series, co-incidently made by the same director. The opera scene in RN was a joy to watch & in this one - nothing. I can only remember the Halo jump and to me was - okay fine. The movie didn't involve me at all. It goes just (& I mean just) above IM:2 on my list. I have to rewatch IM:2 again - may be it is better than this one.

It would be nice if they slowed the next movie and actually give us a team spying and suchlike.

Anyway that is my 2cents worth.
