Also just want to add, Rebecca Ferguson is the best thing about this movie. She refreshes the M:I series somehow.

I thought, "He's mine now; stay away from him bitch!". Mme LeMarchand was more generous and went for, "Don't worry, we'll look after him".

Now that I think about it, I'm going with what Phillipe's wife said. Also, did anyone else notice the resemblance between Julia and Elsa?

Could be. There was no way to know, of course, until Walker/Lark shows Ethan the picture of Julia (who for a split second he thinks is Elsa).

I just watched Rogue Nation for the first time about a week before Fallout was released. When Ilsa was introduced during the interrogation scene at the beginning of the movie, I was wondered for a moment why Ethan's wife would be at that location. It took me a minute to realize that it was Rebecca Ferguson rather than Michelle Monaghan. I think they do have some similar features, but in a side-by-side comparison, I would not confuse the two.

The first few times I saw the trailer, I thought it was Ilsa who was asking Luther how Ethan was, and I would think, "why are you asking him that, Ilsa? You already know!" Then when I saw the movie, it turns out it was Julia, not Ilsa!
