Droids in Star Wars have always been used for humorous interludes (C3-PO) and occasionally to save the day (R2-D2). L337 managed to do both. So no, I didn't hate the character. I think they wrote that ending for her to explain away another bit of bad Lucas worldbuilding.
What part of this loathsome creation was humorous?

Her death was pretty hilarious.
HahA! Yeah, the scene was supposed to be kind of sad, but the way it was depicted was actually unintentionally kind of funny.
It kind of felt like the movie came to a screeching halt when her character came on screen and started talking about equal rights and his robolove for Lando. Speaking of her/its death, why was it such a big deal for Lando? I mean the unintentional comedy of Lando's sadness for his robot's death aside, if they could take the navigational data out of the wreckage, what exactly prevented them from taking the rest of the data out that robot and planting it into some other robot body? Do robots now have a suddenly have a soul in the SJW....I mean SW universe?
Ok. Care to explain how the droid in Solo could be loathsome to you?
Well first of all that droid was incredibly forced and annoying and bossy. It's entire character was basically a meme. Nothing we know about Lando convinces me he'd put up with that droid's BS or have sex with it.
Why would he even have a droid so devoted to droids rights and freedom when he has a remote controlled android servant in Empire and also has a droid destroying factory in Cloud City?
But mostly the droid was just annoying as hell despite only having about 20 minutes of screen time.
K2S0 on the other hand was a liberated imperial droid who (albeit reprogrammed) was loyal to Kasian, was actually funny and had good lines, and sacrificed himself to accomplish the mission, while L3 died because she went off mission and made the stupid choice to try and free some random droids who they clearly were not going to rescue so they would have been recaptured or destroyed anyway.

L3 was dumb.
So a droid that comedically demands better treatment from the living, and the fact that Lando tolerates her, fills you with loathing. And you're angry at L3 for not completing her mission, although she ultimately does. And she in fact puts events in motion which allow Chewbacca to help some of his people escape. And because L3 imagines that Lando is attracted to her, you're rejecting it as if it's an objective truth. Got it.
"But sir. Nobody worries about upsetting a droid!"

L3 wasn't funny, her pro-droid rants added nothing to the narrative she dies 20 minutes after showing up and droid rights isn't the point of the film and is never brought up ever again.
L3 is a re-skinned Jar Jar Binks. The character sucks plain and simple.

Lots of things aren't the point of the film. That fills you with loathing?

It's maybe not the POINT of the film, but....
"Nobody's going to tell us what to do."
"Everybody serves someone Han."
The movie as a whole fills me with loathing because it sucks and doesn't elevate the franchise, but L3 simply annoys. Why do you identify with this character so much? Are you a droids rights activist or something? There is nothing redeeming about this character and I did not like L3 or care about L3 when it was destroyed. The fact they uploaded L3's brain to the Falcon just annoyed me even more so canonically L3 has been with us forever and takes away from Han's skill as a pilot because it's been L3 all along.
Seriously I'm done with Star Wars. I will only watch the future movies if it's for free and nothing else is on. I will no longer give this franchise my money.

After K2-SO, L3 is probably the best new non-human character we've seen in the four new Star Wars films.

The only thing that amused me about that loathsome creation was when it died.
