What a boring movie, almost as bad as Last Jedi. I can’t belive that Star Wars has become such crap now. Did anybody actually like this movie?

I actually created an account to respond to this. I loved the movie! Probably one of the best Star Wars movies of the new bunch! It was so much fun-I truest don’t get the hate (seems to just be the trendy thing for basement dwelling “fanboys”)

If you liked the movie that’s fine, but it feels like everybody likes this movie. Everybody I talk to like the movie, it doesn’t feel trendy to hate it at all to me. For me I like episodes 1-6 a lot. I really liked episode 7 but I was slightly let down by it, still really excited though for the future of Star Wars at that point. Rogue One was unnecessary and the first half was pretty boring to me for a Star Wars film, but the 2nd half was pretty sweet and made it worth it. Then last Jedi came in and I just didn’t like it at all or the direction of the story of the episodes. I thought that Solo was just a boring film with no exciting or interesting scenes or plot points (other than that moment at the end). I don’t want Star Wars to turn into marvel which is what I think is happening.

I agree. This is a really soulless movie. Messy plotting, bland characters, action that seems like it was shot in near total darkness. This is the most workmanlike thing Ron Howard has ever done.
Have a short review of this one here if anyone is interested- https://youtu.be/SVdMCNhBstI

Why do you need to rag on a guy that likes it? Every movie has its fans. We all go in with different expectations. I think it's fine to criticize the filmmakers when their movie is clearly "product," as this one seems to be. But if it scratches an itch for someone, good on them. It's just a fucking movie.

Does someone liking a film you don't instantly make them a shill?

Why did he feel the need to rag on a guy who didn't like it? According to his stats, the account was created in March...

Either people that actually liked the movie had so low expectations they thought it "wasn't that bad so it was good", either they love anything as long as it's "Star Wars" branded, they can also like this movie as it is; an action packed/CGIzed blockbusters like there are everyday. Still, anyone can love or hate anything, If you want to get your opinions respected, respect the other's.
IMHO Rogue One was decent but TFA & TLJ are utter garbage, don't care about Solo and next SW movies, magic is gone...

I feel the same way. I haven't seen Solo yet. Will probably wait 'til it's on Starz etc or Netflix. They've really lost the feel of what Star Wars had in the first three. It was it's own universe that no other scifi felt like and now it could be any generic big budget scifi of any name. 7 was incredibly mediocre and 8 was terrible. I will give it up for the Snoke scene in 8 though, which made me feel like I was watching a Star Wars movie. It could just be the style of big budget movie making in general which has devolved into shallow dialog, plot turns that are mere excuses to go from one effect set piece to another and often misplaced and excessive quips and humor. For a meager attempt at reference, movies that have got it right in the big budget arena for me in recent history are Winter Soldier and Civil War and the two Guardians of the Galaxy movies. I haven't seen Infinity War yet and I thought Black Panther was good but not great. Ragnarok looked incredible at times but the often improvised, indie style of humor, peppered throughout, fell flat for me a lot. It's a shame. Finally in my middle age I'm getting a steady flow of Star Wars movies but they're kind of sucking so it may be worse than when they weren't making them...lol...Get off My Lawn!!!!
Update as of 9/23...saw Solo and thought it wasn’t bad at all. Definitely more in the Rogue One camp, stylistically.

I enjoyed it. I thought it was a lot of fun. Look, the originals are always going to have a place in our hearts for those of us who were young when they were released. I was just the right age when Star Wars debuted. It helped to shape my imagination, as a child. I don't take the newer movies too seriously. They are popcorn entertainment, to me. I understand being disappointed with a movie, but people who get THAT upset over SW or comic book movies really need to focus that energy on things that matter. There are enough real issues in the world that could use attention.

That’s great if you enjoyed it, I didn’t like it or think it was a lot of fun. Infinity Wars is much more ridiculous in concept and it was a much more engaging and entertaining movie to me. Jumanji 2 again was great, this movie was not to me. Something in the movie was extremely lacking, it wasn’t holding my attention and I was very bored. I don’t think I take movies seriously, i like movies based on how entertaining they were.

I'm in the "it stunk" boat too. Not much of a story. Chewie again is given the short stick. He basically carries luggage and lifts heavy things. The projection at my local theater stunk but I didn't see any beautiful shots of space or anything. The two young guys didn't try to mimic the original Solo or Lando actors so I don't blame them too much except they came across as lifeless. And I really wanted the Lando character to work. Han gets his name chosen for him? What? The surprise cameo is only for true fanboys. I was trying to remember what he did in other movies but gave up quick. Overall, wasn't really essential. Han's life was pretty bleak which is another bummer. And there were so many double crosses and switched alliances at the end I finally didn't give a crap about anyone in the film but Han and Chewie... who didn't seem to be leading a story forward with any urgency.

For that to happen they would need to make good movies and a competent person like Kevin Feige would have to run the show not an idiot like Kathleen Kennedy. Marvel already beat Star Wars.

He looked cool and had a flashy fighting style. That's literally all.
I haven't seen Solo yet but what does, "he had his name chosen for him" mean? Does that mean Han Solo had a different name before? Why would anyone care to create a back story for how Han got his name? That sounds utterly silly and pointless to me.
