I enjoyed it but it def lacked the heart and spirit of Predator for me. Seemed like it was written as a comedy and not a horror/thriller/action film. Not to mention that horrible horrible ending. Seriously the worst thing ever.

I thought it was surprisingly good too. It didn't bother me that pretty much every other line ended up being a punch line. The pacing was good, the action was good, the effects were good, the storytelling was good, bringing high tech alien technology to the screen was good and over all just having a good time watching it was good.

Of course nothing can bring back the shock and awe of the original since we're all too familiar with the premise. Most the time movies who's sequels start getting up in number rarely carry on the feeling of the original as some try and mostly fail to do so. On the other hand, the trailer for the new Halloween (2018) movie looks like it has brought back the essence we all experienced from the first, but only time will tell. We'll have to wait and see.

I really didn't know what to expect about this new Predator (and I really didn't care,) but I'm glad they took it in the direction they did.

This movie was balls.

The only cool part of the movie was that they used some of Alan Silvestri's material from the original film.

Why does Olivia Munn look some damn dazed and confused during all of her scenes, especially right during her introduction when she's walking her dog? Getting her to strip down in the decontamination chamber didn't do a whole lot for the movie, not a good T&A sequence (if that was the aim) and not a good tribute to Sigorney Weaver and Alien 3 if that was what they were going for. Are The Predators racist? Do they not see Asian or half Asian people? Terrible choice for the role.

I'm not really aware of who Boyd Holbrook is and thought that in the grand scheme of things, he is probably one of the weaker if not weakest leads that the series has had (and this includes Adrien Brody as an action star). The rest of the cast seem ok, but not given a whole lot to work with which is fine because nobody is the star of this other than The Predator.

Once upon a time, Thomas Jane would have been the lead for this film - what happened to that guy?

The story itself was pretty shitty, Predator dogs? FFS. The child being the next step in human evolution and he's supposed to be the leader The Predators want as a trophy? FFS. Dog shit. Steaming pile of dog shit.

This has to be the most watered down R rated movie ever. Child protagonist, Predator dogs, just smells of marketing and a nudge and a wink to the true intended audience while trying to keep the original audience happy.

1/5.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who recognized that reference!

I'm not sure what the hell happened with this movie. I didn't hate it, but it didn't bowl me over either. It seemed like such a departure from the original Predator. Why the hell did that happen? It was written and directed by Shane Black. He was there in the original. He should have some idea what the tone of the movie would be, or should be. I didn't like the lead...he just didn't work for me. I like Olivia Munn but I thought she was miscast in this. Another movie with a kid as the savior...not sure I like that premise for a movie that's got so much riding on it. I thought even Predators (The Adrian Brody movie) did a better job staying true to the original than this movie did. I guess I was expecting this to bring the franchise back to its roots...Instead we get a really odd movie that doesn't really stay true to the original. Maybe that's what they were going after, but it was just went too far off track for me.

@Dark_Sithlord Nailed my opinion to a T.

The opening sequence of sniper alone in the jungle gave me such high hopes - "get to the choppa" whilst fighting off drug gangs and predators using his stealth and sniper training? Perfect combination of the best bits of the first two movies!

Olivia Munn should have been cast as the daughter of the woman saved in the first movie. Perhaps this was implied - if so I missed it. (The Jake / Gary Busey connection was subtle too - the characters shared a surname but no other overt reference).

Ah well.

Well, I would say this version of Predator was almost as different as Halloween III: Season of the Witch was when compared to the other Halloween titles, but not as totally different as there would had to been absolutely nothing to do with the original. In worse case scenario The Predator could have been very very totally different but it wasn't.

It's going to take some of the viewers time to let go and accept the new story line. It's not the same movie. They said over and over the label of "Predator" is inaccurate. With big network productions like GoT and Westworld I think this could even land as a series on HBO or Showtime. I'd really really love to see a big production alien/space series.

This is never going to happen. The fan base just isnt there and especially now after this film.

They need to revert back to alien vs predators/ monster vs monster direction maybe have predators faceoff with other alien critters. I see a fanbase there for a vs creature feature with the predators but not solo attempts.

I would personally love to see some future Colonial Marines action on or around the Yautja home world. Maybe finally get to see a huge badass female Yautja action! But I dont think they would ever do that and would just end up fucking it up somehow.

You haters have no tolerance for change. If you paid attention, the movie setup several options. I can't speak to the fan base, nor can you. Let's hope it gets some traction or the franchise could be shelved again.

I have tolerance for change, as long as that change is actually good for the franchise and not just a cash grab. The movie set up shit, legit shit. I had high hopes for it and so did many other fans but they dropped the ball big time. I dont know why its so hard to make a good Predator film. I mean they have sooooo much material to pick from, great books and comics for years! And from what I have seen, most of the fan base hated this film so I can speak for the fan base. After this debacle I dont see anything happening with the franchise for the next few years...until the next reboot or re-imaging.

Sure pal. When you get your story straight and millions why don't you go ahead and show 'em how to do it. Until then, like kindergartners say "you get what you get, and don't throw a fit". Let's try to stay productive and positive children.

Ok cocksucker dont come at me with a condescending tone. And like stated before give the fans some Colonial Marines action or Yautja home world action. Hell Im sure many fans would also love to see Machiko Noguchi story brought to the big screen. And it hits Hollywood's new obsession with females and POC. Its not that hard, but than again Hollywood isnt known for giving the fan base what they really want. So if you know someone at Twentieth Century Fox send them my way.

The first Predator as far as I can remember happened in a wooded area or jungle, now it's in the streets. The first Jurassic Park was in a park, according to the last one, it looks like a new sequel will take place on the streets in some city.
