Discuss The Predator

As a big fan of the original, and one who even sees things to like in the silly sequel, this just looks like shit. The "SEAL Team" just looks like a bunch of half-assed Mountain Boys trying to look and act tough. (The most ridiculous so far looks to be Tom Jane.) The Olivia Munn character couldn't be less interesting. And, oh look! The original Predator isn't REALLY the biggest bad guy, there's ANOTHER even BIGGER Predator running around. (If you recall, Rodriquez tried this exact same trick with Predators.) Shane Black should have known better than to perch himself on this obviously huge, steaming pile of shit.

I think the predator works best in unusual locations. Put it like this, imagine an ALIEN film with the alien stalking Los Angeles suburbia! I dunno, just doesn't feel right.

LAPD radio control:

"We have reports a predator has entered a drive-thru McDonalds. 10451 Santa Monica Blvd. Local units to scene."

Two Man Patrol vehicle responds to call:

"Oh man. Imagine the bloodshed it's gonna cause."

LAPD radio control:

"Er, nope.... it's just ordered a Big Mac and fries."

Seem agree. I actually think the latest trailer is better than the first two. But saying that I feel like they basically gave to much away with the trailer. Should have cut back some. Over all the fans are more than likely going to be disappointed and the general public are going to be indifferent.

The obvious reason is cost. Shooting on location in an urban environment is probably a lot cheaper, and logistically easier, than shlepping cameras around a jungle all day. (Even if the jungle is near a resort, as in the original Predator movie.) Half the time, they can shoot in a backlot where they can completely control all of the scenic elements.

Predator 2 took place in LA and it was ****** awesome.

The bigger hole in that premise is going to McDonalds when there’s In ‘n’ Out! They tell the Predator they no longer do Animal style and he does the Billy laugh and activates the wrist nuke!
