As a big fan of the novel and 90s miniseries, I admit I've been apprehensive about this remake ever since it was announced. The trailer was... not that captivating to me til 1 minute and 55 seconds in. The shot of Pennywise's hand with claws! That must be the scene where he's the werewolf? It looks cool! The subsequent flashing scenes were interesting, too. Him pushing his head up out of the water and then rushing forward as an image of Georgie distracts Bill was creepy. His eyes are intense.
The shot of all the main kids - I'm not sure what I think of them. Since it's just a trailer, it's too early to make a judgment, but a couple of them look off to me somehow...
It looks pretty good. But I will miss the adult versions of the story. I understand they are planning for that in the second film but still. I wish Pennywise actually spoke in the trailer but Im sure they are saving that for next trailer. I think it will do good, but not live up to the original or the book. As we all know, fans are extremely hard to please. Oh and I really like Pennywises eyes, very well done and I think authentic to the book.
Hate to be a bit of a joy kill. But the trailer didn't impress me as much as I wanted to. Still it's just the first trailer and I still hope and want the movie to be good. But to me it just looked like a generic horror movie we get nowadays. Just the way the trailer starts made me laugh when the kid hits his head and falls down made me laugh. I don't usually laugh at stuff like that, but this was setting up a serious and creepy scene we are all familiar with and then that happens. And I know I'm not the only one who had that reaction. I'm not sure about the kids but again it's just the first trailer. As for mr. pennywise himself, i'm still not sure what to think of him. I hope he is creepy and doesn't go too over the top. To me it just seems like he is trying too hard to be scary. I hope the movie proves me wrong .
I didn't make all that much of the trailer either, think it revealed a little bit too much especially for a teaser. Also, how on Earth is 2 and a half minutes now regarded as a teaser trailer? I remember back in the day when that was regarded as a full on trailer.

Movie studios don't know what a teaser trailer is anymore.
Teaser trailers were always supposed to be like 30 seconds or so at maximum.
This is getting bashed but I'm going to give it a chance. I don't actually think the new version of Pennywise is all that bad, either, though. People just loved Tim Curry's version of the character, and they should. Tough act to follow.
One of the other things I noticed in the trailer was Mike Hanlon standing outside a burning door. I presume that to be an image of the men and women that burned to death in the Derry Airmens club clawing to get out. The story that Mikes father told him which was one of Pennywises mass deaths in the book.
Actually I hadn't thought of that. I don't think so necessarily, mostly because that story took place at night in the book, but I don't have a better guess!

I think the Pennywise look was fine. Doesn't exactly match my imagined look, but close enough. However, I do wish I could have heard the voice!
