Discuss Eyes Wide Shut

Hello,

I consider Eyes Wide Shut as a true masterpiece. When the movie ended, I really wanted to know more and I found this documentary Kubrick & The Illuminati.

The 30 minute documentary can be watched for free on the editor's site.

The film, illustrated with numerous excerpts from films by Kubrick and others (Nolan, Polanski, Spielberg), develops several paths, notably related to Scientology, pedophilia, Masonic symbolism, and conspiracy theories.

What do you think?

I remember the first time I watched it, I wasn't sure what to think (it was really ahead of it's time, as far as the Illuminati wasn't well known or talked about much when it was first released). As time went on and with multiple viewings, it has become one of my favorite Kubrick films.

I enjoy watching and reading all the theories surrounding his films, this one in particular. He definitely had knowledge about heavily guarded secrets at the top and it's amazing how his films are so multilayered with hidden meanings, clues etc.

If I had the opportunity to sit for a few hours with any famous person dead or alive, I would choose Kubrick...I would love to pick his brain!

@virics, that's cool. Whether you believe in all the theories or not. The great thing about Kubrick films is everyone has their own interpretations about them and that makes them interesting.

I for one believe the infamous, ritual scene is more based in reality, than just being used as a metaphor.

Now excuse me while I readjust my tinfoil hat...ghost

'What does Eyes Wide Shut really mean?'

It what happens to you when you watch the film wink

Thanks for posting the link to the documentary. I think the makers of the documentary pretty much nailed it on the head. I also think this film is a masterpiece. I can watch it over and over again, never getting tired of it, and always coming out on the other side of the rainbow 🌈 by EWS's end with a new observation about the hidden/true meaning behind the film.
