Debatir Only the Dead

He pretends to want to give some sort of intriguing angle but is too dumb to even follow the idea through. He also wants to try to show how war changes people, but completely fails to do that too. Zooming in on a guys face while schpooky music plays does not automatically mean that guy you spoke to for 1 minute is disturbed. There is zero angle to this movie at all even although it desperately tries to justify its existence by pretending there is one. It is just a bunch of war footage taken by a moron who leaves his family behind to go and put his life in extreme unnecessary danger for his own dumbass vanity as a cutting edge war reporter. Yet he doesn't really 'report' on anything, just bumbles around with a gopro on his head.

That alone doesn't make me hate it though. That just makes it a terrible excuse for a "movie". The reason I hate it is that he deliberately shows a bunch of actual deaths, most of which he didn't even witness first hand, like the decapitation of various reporters by ISIS, and it completely unnecessarily shows the full gore, the head being hacked off, and held up for the cameras and peoples brains being blown out the back of their heads by an assault rifle at close range. Only sick minded fucks have seen this already or people who didn't close their eyes in time, but this movie shoves it in your face and then does it many other times to try to pretend it is deep and no doubt to try to get more sales from curious teenagers who want to see some real gore or what Call of Duty would really be like in real life. The fact that they put this stuff in makes me so angry. The news already showed the executed reporters and many other deaths but it fades out at the last second to spare us the insane gore. The soldiers come home with PTSD and mental problems, why inflict it on a TV audience? There is no reason, that's why they fade out. But this movie puts it all in there and that makes them all immoral pieces of shit.

He had one story of real people including a guy that died, Omar or something, that got skimmed over and never mentioned again, and he had some very unique footage of ISIS controlled territory, as well as a lot of real "in the thick of it" war footage. It is amazing footage and someone with a brain could have pieced that together into either a real non bias and no dramatised documentary, or an actual touching war movie. This does neither of those things.
